ONLINE PROGRAM

If you're too far from New York City to attend one of our workshops, you can still learn to write using our unique, technique-oriented method by joining one of our online ten-week workshops in Fiction & Poetry.

When we started the first Online Workshop in February 2001, it was a response to writers outside the New York City area, who had read about us and wanted to become part of The Writers Studio community. The response has been great, and there are now six Online Classes at four levels, with plans to expand to five levels in the near future. Students from Scotland, Mexico, Thailand, California and Alaska have all participated in the classes. Increasingly, though, we are getting students from New Jersey, SoHo and Central Park West. It seems that some local writers prefer the Online Classes because their schedules prevent them from attending evening classes, or they feel less vulnerable turning in work online. We recommend taking whichever class will help you write. If you're local, and it feels easier to study online, take a Level I class online. If you wish to continue in person, you can sign up for a NYC class next session. Bottom line ...

“If you're trying to choose between online and off, do the thing that is going to help you write. That could be virtual or in person-as long as you find a teacher you connect with and who inspires you, and a group you connect with too.”

-AMY DANA quoted in Poets & Writers (November/December 2002) about The Writers Studio classes.
