SIGNING UP FOR AOL INSTANT MESSAGE FREE SOFTWARE

If you don't already have AOL IM installed, go to http://www.aim.com. Under "Get AIM" to the left of your screen, click on "For your computer" and then choose "Windows" or "Macintosh." You will be prompted to set-up a screen name if you don't already have one. Remember that this screen name will be your "id" during our chats, so while you may want something anonymous, your name should also be something appropriate for class.

Downloading AOL IM is a fairly straightforward process. You download, you double click on the downloaded file, and then you go through the install program. If you have questions about downloading AIM, please contact your teacher via email.

Sign in with the name and password you created, and you should see your AOL "Buddy List."

Once you have successfully installed AOL IM, please email me your screen name so that I can add it to my own list for this class lucinda@writerstudio.com. Before the weekly chat starts, make sure that AOL IM is running on your computer, so that I can invite you to the chat room. Each week, the chat room will be a "by invitation only" event, so make sure you're up on AOL.
