The Isabelle Deconinck Scholarship

The Writers Studio is pleased to offer a scholarship in memory of beloved Writers Studio student and teacher Isabelle Deconinck. A gifted writer, Isabelle Deconinck was awarded fellowships in fiction from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation (Taos, NM) and her fiction appeared in “Five Points,” “Epiphany” and “KGB Lit.” She was dedicated to The Writers Studio, as both a teacher for many years and the director of the school’s reading series, which enriched the school’s lively literary community. The Isabelle Deconinck Scholarship will honor Isabelle’s memory by supporting emerging writers, who like Isabelle, exhibit a commitment to their writing, a desire to hone their writing skills, and a deep appreciation for literary community.

This need-based scholarship for students new to The Writers Studio covers students’ full tuition as long as they progress through the levels of The Writers Studio program, beginning with their first eight-week course. Applicants must be 22 or older and not enrolled in a degree-granting program. The application deadline has been extended to Friday, January 5, 2024 at midnight PT. Recipients will be notified on February 9, 2024. Apply here.
