If you’re also 50 or older and write — or want to write — fiction, poetry or memoir, this online workshop is for you. It’s for all 50+ writers who:
- Always wanted to write, but never could find the time
- Wrote when young, but then stopped
- Have written all along, but have yet to be published
- Want to turn a lifetime’s experience into short stories, novels, poems or memoirs for others to read and enjoy
Each week, you’ll write a short exercise and receive a personal written critique from the teacher. You’ll also get feedback from your fellow classmates, and critique their writing, too. During the workshop’s final week, you’ll pick one of your favorite exercises to revise under the teacher’s direction. All exercises and readings will be provided by the teacher.
As part of this workshop, you’ll also have the option of joining a weekly one-hour live chat, conducted using the school’s secure website. If you can’t attend a chat, you can read the chat transcript posted later in the online classroom.
This workshop is led by Peter Krass, a Writers Studio teacher since 2008 and the poetry co-editor of The Writers Studio at 30, an anthology celebrating the school’s 30th anniversary. Peter resumed creative writing in the midst of a career as a business and technology journalist, including stints at Inc., BusinessWeek and InformationWeek. Today he’s a published poet, Pushcart Prize Special Mention winner and proud member of the over-50 writers’ club.
