UPDATE: 3/13/2020: Students will attend Spring San Francisco writing classes at their scheduled times via video chat (with or without cameras enabled) or by calling in to the live chat with your phone. Your exercises will be shared electronically, and the format of the live class will be the same as when you attend class in person, with students and teachers responding to your work and discussing the next week’s exercise.
The technology for attending class remotely is provided by Google Meet and is extremely easy to use. Your teacher will send you links and will provide support as needed. We hope you will continue to write and stay connected to our community during this time.
Students at this level have a solid grounding in the tenets and technical terms that are the building blocks of The Writers Studio approach. Focus turns to enriching the work by creating an individual voice and tapping into underlying emotion. This class asks students to recognize the specific qualities that make a narrative or poem engaging and entertaining to the reader. The goal is to help students use a full range of techniques to create and sustain an effective artistic distance. Students also begin to find greater freedom and depth in their work. The workshop follows the Craft Class syllabus (along with additional excerpts distributed by the teacher); exercises grow out of the techniques found in these readings.
Open only to students who have completed The Writers Studio San Francisco Workshop and upon the recommendation of the teacher.
The Writers Studio San Francisco classes meet once a week for 8 weeks. For more information, please contact Gail Ford: email@example.com.
