Students who enter the Masters Workshop are familiar with the technical terms that are the building blocks of The Writers Studio approach. There is increased focus on creating an individual voice and giving an emotional atmosphere or mood to each piece. This class asks students to recognize the specific qualities that make a narrative or poem engaging and entertaining to the reader. Students work to recognize their own strengths and limitations as writers so that they may consciously develop narrators, and a writing style, that is uniquely suited to them. The goal of this class is to help students discover a way of writing that can be sustained throughout their lives. Students at this level, while continuing to do exercises from the Craft Class, routinely complete poems and stories to submit for publication, and work toward creating a book-length manuscript. Open only to students who have completed The Writers Studio San Francisco Workshop, Intermediate, and Advanced Workshops, and upon recommendation of the teacher.
