Fiction students come into the Level 5 Online Master Class with plenty of experience and sophistication. Here they take on the next challenge: honing the skills and developing the healthy habits that will sustain them throughout their writing lives. They develop increased self-awareness about their internal process, as well as increasing control over the “voice” that’s unique to them and over their narrative choices. Students at this level continue to do exercises from the Craft Class, but they also routinely complete poems and stories to submit for publication, and work toward creating a book-length manuscript.
Open only to those students who have completed Level 4 and by permission of the teacher.
If The Writers Studio strikes a balance between the isolation of self-discipline and the community of kindred spirits, between the listening part of oneself and an audience of peers, it also encourages writers to be ambitious — for the work, always for the work, not for themselves.
